On February 28, 2000 Father Louis B. Hasenfuss, OSB  finished his lifelong journey to our Father's house. His last message to us is presented here. Father Louis is lovingly missed.

Since our last entry of the Chronicles -    

October 2010

October 1, JCM ministries coordinated by John Cipin had 27 people, mostly pastors from Arizona, for a 3-day retreat. Also today Br. Gary Miller, OSB left for Italy to attend the Congregation’s Chapter meeting.  

October 2, monthly Oblate day was facilitated by Raoul Vigorie. Approximately 24 attended.

October 5, a group of ladies, coordinated by Socco Elzy, came this morning to pull several 100# of beef for the festival.  

October 8, Deacon Thomas Ferreira from Holy Cross Parish in Mesa, AZ, directed a 3-day retreat for his St. Augustine SCC group.

October 11, Fr. Sam Dennis, OSB, arrived from Pecos to cover for the monastery’s liturgical services while Fr. Henri, OSB, is at the Chapter Meeting at the Mother House in Italy. Fr. Paul Meaden, OSB, who has been covering, left for Texas yesterday.

October 15, Deacon Tom Ferreira from Holy Cross Parish in Mesa, AZ, brought another group to the monastery for a 3-day retreat. Also this date, the Saguaro Christian Church had a 2-day retreat for a group of 10 people.

October 20, Bill Lindley visited Our Lady of Guadalupe School in Agua Prieta, Mexico with a couple of our benefactors. 

October 22, Overeaters Anonymous had a 3-day retreat for 50 overnight members and had an additional 10 members join them during the day Saturday.  Also this date nine sisters of the Sisters of St. Agnes from various parts of Arizona met at the monastery for the day.  

October 26, Fr. Henri, OSB and Br. Gary, OSB returned from the 30-day Chapter meeting at Congregation’s mother house, Mount Oliveto in Italy.

October 29, East Valley Men’s group had a 3-day retreat for 35 members.  

November, 2010

November 5, The Yoga Connection group had a 3-day retreat for 38 people led by Priscilla Potter.

November 6, was the traditional workday before the festival. Also there was an oblate meeting for the ones who did not have a work assignment or were unable to work.

November 13 -14, the monastery had its semiannual Festival which was a success. Fr. Stan Szczapa, an Oblate of HTM, from Vernon, CT helps out at the festival, as he always does.

November 19, Corpus Christi Parish, Tucson, had a 3-day retreat for 48 people.

November 20, Most Holy Nativity parish, Nogales had a day retreat for 20 people. Also this day the School of the Lords Service had their monthly seminar.

November 26, the Medical Mission Sisters who are working in Arizona had their 3-day quarterly meeting at the monastery.

Bookstore and Gift Shop

The Bookstore and Gift Shop carries  the work of local and international artists which consists of watercolors, oils, hand painted porcelain, gourd art, stained glass, pottery, wood and jewelry, as well  as a selection of religious books and music along with medals, rosaries and other religious articles. Much of the artwork is exclusive to Holy Trinity Monastery. 


We continue to sell our own Benedictine Bread, Banana Pecan Bread and Chocolate Bread, as well as pecans from our orchard.  Recently we began featuring ground coffee from the Trappist monks of La Loma, Venezuela. Each Sunday after Mass, there is hospitality meeting on the porch of the bookstore featuring coffee and baked goods to allow for fellowship.

The e-Scrip program has been a means for the monastery to receive financial support. 

What is eScrip?

 eScript is a program established by Electronic Scrip Incorporated to provide support to non-profit organizations.  eScript is connected to approximately 600 merchants nationwide that contribute a percentage of the money spent at one of their establishments by a supporter of a specific non-profit organization, in this case Holy Trinity Monastery.

How does it work? 

1) Signup for eScript on internet – www.escrip.com and register your grocery store club card(s), frequent customer card and/or your credit card.  When registering please use our group ID# 9607198 or name, Holy Trinity Monastery.

Whenever you use your card(s) at any of the eScript businesses a percentage of your purchase automatically goes to support the monastery.  It does not cost you anything.  The registration section of the website is secured.  Your information is handled confidentially.  The website lists the participating merchants.  Each merchant gives a different percentage, from 1% to 10% of the purchase. Merchants such as, Safeway, Vons, Chevron, Pep Boys, OfficeMax, Eddie Bauer, etc. participate in this program
