On
February 28, 2000 Father Louis B. Hasenfuss, OSB finished his lifelong
journey to our Father's house. His last message to us is presented
here. Father Louis
is lovingly missed.

September
2009
September
5, Fr. Benedict, OSB, facilitated the monthly Oblate meeting at the
monastery.
September
12, a group of local therapists had a no cost St. David Wellness clinic.
September
16, a group of Methodist women came to the monastery for a tour and to
learn about some specific Catholic beliefs and monastic life. Fr.
Benedict, OSB, facilitated an Oblate meeting for the Sierra Vista group.
September
18, the School of the Lord’s Service had their first seminar for the
fall semester. September
25, the Phoenix East Valley Men’s group had a 2-day retreat for 15 of
their members. September
28, Fr. Henri, OSB, left for a visit to Our Lady Guadalupe Abbey in
Pecos, NM., Bill Lindley, obl SB, left for the Second World Oblate
Congress in Rome.
October
2009
October
1, Peck Aspirations came with 5 for a 4 day retreat.
October 3,
the monthly Oblate meeting was facilitated by Fr. Benedict, OSB.
October
9, a group of St. Augustine’s Parish in Mesa, AZ came for a 2-day
retreat led by Deacon Tom. The same weekend Guru Ravi held a 2-day yoga
group.
October
10, Fr. Benedict, OSB, facilitated the monthly meeting of the Sierra
Vista Oblates.
October
15, Healer Within group had a 3 day retreat for 20 people.
October
17, the School of the Lord’s Service had their monthly seminar.
October
22, Bishop Pat Ziemann, a 9 year plus resident of the monastery, went to
his eternal reward. Bishop
Pat passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
October
28, the funeral Mass was celebrated this date with Bishop Ochoa, Bishop
of El Paso, presiding. Fr.
Henri, OSB, was the homilist. Five of Bishop Pat’s siblings were in
attendance.
October
30, Overeaters Anonymous had a 2-day retreat for 48 people.
November
2009
November 9,
Fr. Benedict, OSB, left for Tonga for 2 weeks. While there he helped a
group make plans for establishing a trade school.
November
6, Fr. Henri, OSB was in San Diego facilitating the local Oblate
meeting. He also attended a
funeral Mass for Bishop Pat at the Cathedral in Orange County, CA.
November
7, was the Oblate workday in preparation for the fall art festival.
November
14, the fall art festival was held this weekend. The vendors and the
monastery did well and it was considered a successful festival.
November
19, Living Faith Church had a 2 night retreat for 5 of their members.
Fr. Henri, OSB, went to El Paso to facilitate the local Oblate meeting.
November
20, the Medical Missionary Sisters had their 2-day quarterly meeting at
the monastery. The School of the Lord’s Service had their monthly
seminar.
November
23, Fr. Henri, OSB, as definitator, visited Mother of the Redeemer
Monastery, Opelousas, LA.
December
2009
December 4,
22 people attended the Oblate Advent retreat which was co-facilitated by
Fr. Benedict, OSB, Sr. Jeanne, and Raoul Viguerie, Obl SB.
December
12, the Square Wheelers Square Dancer’s had their annual Christmas
dinner party at the monastery with 28 in attendance.
December
19, the monastery had Breakfast with Santa in the dining room.
December
24, Christmas Eve Mass was celebrated at Midnight.
July
2009
July 11, Fr. Noriega
led a day retreat for widows from Douglas.
July 16, Fr. Henri,
OSB, met with and ministered in El Paso to the Oblates for 2 days at the
Scherfl’s home.
July 17, Fr.
Benedict, OSB, was in San Francisco
ministering to the Tonga community.
July 18, St. John
the Evangelist parish had a day retreat for 40 youth in their
conformation class.
July 22, Sr. Eligio,
OSB, from our Olivetan community in South Korea, who is working in South
Dakota, visited the monastery for q week with two of her community
members who are working in Maryland.
July 24, Kevin
Stogsdill led a 2-day Retrovaille retreat for 12 couples.
July 26, the Diocese
of Tucson Vocation Office had a 3-day convocation for their seminarians
and a Mass and banquet for the seminarians’ families and
benefactors.
August
2009
August 1, the
Italian Carmelite sisters who have the Casa Hogar de Nuestros Pequenos
Hermanos Cristo Rey I A.P. orphanage in Nogales, Sonora, were at the
monastery for 2 weeks, The sisters were in a silent retreat for one week
and used the other week for rest and relaxation.
August
8, Isak Keyman-lge, a seminarian, from the Archdiocese mad his annual
week retreat with us.
August 14, Fr.
Henri, OSB, was in San Diego for two days to meet with the San Diego
Oblates at the Ralph’s. He also celebrated Mass at the French parish
in Los Angeles.
August 18, Medical
Missionary Sisters held their 2-day quarterly for the six members who
work in Arizona.
August 18, the
Newman Center at Arizona University held a 2-day retreat for 27 students
which was led by Fr. Bart, OP.
August 23, Sr.
Corinne, OSB, celebrated her 25th anniversary of religious
life with a Mass and lunch with 80 people celebrating with her.
August 26, Sr.
Corinne, OSB, held a meeting for the Parkinson support group.
August 29, Fr. Peter
Neely, S.J., held a 2-day meeting for the staff of the Kino Boarder
Initiative.

Bookstore and Gift
Shop
The
Bookstore and Gift Shop carries the work
of local and international artists which consists of watercolors,
oils, hand painted porcelain, gourd art, stained glass, pottery, wood and
jewelry, as well as a selection
of religious books and music along with medals, rosaries and other
religious articles. Much of the artwork is exclusive to Holy
Trinity Monastery.
We
continue to sell our own Benedictine Bread, Banana Pecan Bread and
Chocolate Bread, as well as pecans from our orchard.
Recently we began featuring ground coffee from the Trappist
monks of La Loma, Venezuela. Each Sunday after Mass, there is hospitality
meeting on the porch of the bookstore featuring coffee and baked goods
to allow for fellowship.

The
e-Scrip program has been a means for the monastery
to receive financial support.

is eScrip?
eScript
is a program established by Electronic Scrip Incorporated to provide
support to non-profit organizations.
eScript is connected to approximately 600 merchants nationwide
that contribute a percentage of the money spent at one of their establishments
by a supporter of a specific non-profit organization, in this case
Holy Trinity Monastery.
How
does it work?
1)
Signup for eScript on internet – www.escrip.com
and register your grocery store club card(s), frequent customer card
and/or your credit card. When
registering please use our group ID# 9607198 or name, Holy Trinity
Monastery.
Whenever you use your card(s) at any of the
eScript businesses a percentage of your purchase automatically goes
to support the monastery. It
does not cost you anything.
The registration section of the website is secured.
Your information is handled confidentially.
The website lists the participating merchants.
Each merchant gives a different percentage, from 1% to 10%
of the purchase. Merchants such as, Safeway, Vons, Chevron, Pep Boys,
OfficeMax, Eddie Bauer, etc. participate in this program.
